Snow Sledding and Tubing in Winter Park Colorado

Winter Park, Colorado is known as an outdoor enthusiasts paradise. There many many things to do here in the Colorado Rockies. Skiing, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, cross country skiing and the list goes on and on. One of the most fun outdoor activities though, especially with children, is snow sledding and tubing. Fun for the entire family and accessible from the very young to the only young at heart. What is more fun than shooting down a hill with snow flying in the air and wind in your face? Well, here in Winter Park there are several options to get your sledding on. From the free town hill to the huge Fraser tube hill to the night sledding at Sol Vista Resort there is nowhere better to do some sledding.
Let’s start with the free sledding at the town park, Hideaway Park, that is for all to enjoy. Located right on US Highway 40 in the town of Winter Park the free hill is perfect for the younger ones. There are snow disks and sleds that the Chamber of Commerce has provided at the hill or you can bring your own. Sleds and snow disks can also be purchased at Safeway or City Market down the road. This is old fashioned sledding. Shoot down the slope pick the sled up and walk back up then repeat. Usually never crowded and there is a playground for kids. Check out the the tube slide that takes you to street level. Free entertainment and activity at a ski resort, I didn’t think that was possible. Read the rest of this entry »
