Elissa Gore Biography
Oil and water have found the perfect mix in the paintings of Elissa Gore. These are works that elicit a peaceful reaction-not only because of the extraordinary landscape compositions-but also from the pleasing combination of oil pastel on top of watercolor. Her panoramic paintings let the viewer feel the expanse of nature.
Elissa Gore was born in Philadelphia in 1950. She studied painting and sculpture at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Fine Arts (BA73, MFA74) and medical Illustration at the University of Texas(MA 78).
From 1980-1996, she taught art at the college level. Today, she paints landscape full-time in New York City and Woodstock, NY. She is best known for her tightly composed, large, panoramic format paintings on paper and canvas. She is interested in a perceptual approach to painting nature that uses color and light to evoke a meditative mood.
She has mounted 16 solo exhibits in the past 10 years in commercial galleries, cultural centers and museums. A recipient of numerous awards in national juried exhibitions, her works are included in over forty important collections.

Bank One, Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Fidelity, McGraw-Hill, Morgan Bank, Nokia, Pfizer,
TIAA/CREF, USAA, Vanguard and the U. S. State Department.
She is represented in New York by Katherine Markel Fine Art.
She is a fellow of the Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Hambidge
Center, Catskill Center for Conservation, and Woodstock Guild of Craftsmen.
